I’ve gotta say it was almost impossible for me to pick only one song from this record to be my favorite, so i flipped a coin and ended up with the title track. The overall sound of this record is emotional driven singer/songwriter meets old tyme country. Songs like “I Knew You Before” and “Blood and Wine” are along the darkside of Johnny Cash, and songs like “Pistol” and the title track are happy/sad enough to bring you to tears. Dustin’s voice proves to sound just as good screaming as he does singing softly. His guitar playing in Thrice is much more elaborate and technical than in this showing, but the real effort is in the words and vocal delivery. Sung by anyone else, “Pistol” would just sound cheesy, but the way he does it, it works perfectly. So to bring it full circle as it were, my song choice is “Please Come Home”. Though it is a great song, i hope it merely gives you a taste of the record, which will inevitably lead to you checking out all the other great songs on this record.
